Description

Requirements of the role:

  • To work within a supportive environment to undertake the required care and support tasks, in line with the values of Sunderland Care and Support, in order to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to become an effective Support Worker
  • To provide and promote person-centred care and support to vulnerable customers including people who have a range of mental health needs, learning and physical disabilities and behaviours that might challenge; to meet a range of complex social and health needs
  • To work effectively as part of a team, undertaking tasks as detailed within a person’s care plan, providing care and support to enable people to achieve their maximum level of independence through appropriate physical, emotional and psychological support including: intimate personal care, support with basic health needs, practical tasks, appropriate communication and community involvement
  • To actively participate within team meetings, training and supervision
  • To complete relevant records and contribute to the preparation and review of customer’s care and support plans
  • To attend study days and participate in development activities as required by the programme
  • To complete all mandatory training as required by the Sunderland Care and Support Training Strategy
  • To work flexibly on a rota basis, including weekends
  • To undertake any other duties, depending on skills and competency, to enable the efficient and effective running of the service.

  • No formal qualifications are required, however having GCSE grade A-C in maths and English (or equivalent) would be highly advantageous.

  • Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Sunderland Support and Care will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day
  • If successful, you will complete a Level 2 Adult Care Worker apprenticeship programme, delivered through Sunderland Support and Care's dedicated training provider, Realise
