Description
Home Orchard specialises in Residential Care for
Adults with a Learning Disability. We are Centred around a small farm,
activities include: caring for animals; horse and carriage riding; cycling;
fishing; sport and music groups; woodwork; swimming; gardening, life skills and
many more. Outings are arranged to local adventure parks, the seaside, the
cinema or theatre and other places of interest on request or as part of
individual timetables.
· To
enable and support Adults with a Learning Disability
· To act
as a role model for people who use the service at Home Orchard.
Your responsibilities will
include but are not limited to:
· Supporting
people with their personal care needs;
· Supporting
people to develop independence and life skills;
· Assisting
people to achieve their long- and short-term goals;
· Assisting
people to develop their person-centred care plans;
· Supporting
people in undertaking daily activities both at Palace Farm and in the
community.
· Ensuring
resources are utilised and the provision of varied daily activities such as
arts, crafts, swimming, cycling, horse care and horse riding etc; this includes
employment, education and other opportunities.
· Maintaining
records and drawing up risk assessments;
· creating
and caring for the immediate living environment;
· supporting
and motivating people to organise their time;
· Stimulating
and encouraging interaction with others (games, conversations, activities and
skills).
· To
promote individual choice;
· To
give feedback and communication on Service User progress and issues to the
Manager;
· You
will need to abide by the Department of Health’s Code of Conduct for Healthcare
Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England;
· Other
duties to assist with smooth running of the home as required by the Manager.
Health and Safety:
· Understand,
maintain and develop safe working practices.
· Supporting
people who use our service in learning safe working practices.
· Be familiar
with individual Service Users risk assessments.
· To
participate in guidance and supervision sessions.
· Willingness
to receive and give feedback.
· Willingness
to develop good social and communication skills.
Training Expectations:
· Participation
in mandatory training is compulsory; opportunity to gain Diploma’s in Health
and
· Social
Care (Adults) or equivalent and other training according to need is available.
Responsibility:
You are responsible to the Management team or person
appointed by them.

- Have the ability to use

- Maths and English GCSE, grade C/4 (or equivalent). If you do not have these qualifications the Exeter College Team will support you to gain these skills alongside your Apprenticeship.
You will receive full training in the care home with the support of an experienced team. In addition to this, you will attend Exeter College once a week to complete the following:
- Level 2 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship Standard
- Level 2 Diploma in Care
- The Care Certificate
- Functional Skills in Maths and English (where required).
