You will be responsible for:



Academy IT Support staff are responsible for providing day to day IT support academies. This role is



classed as mobile and involves provision of support to more than one academy in the Trust. Access to a vehicle which has motor insurance with business travel is required. Mileage expenses covered at the standard rate.





  • Setting up/installing new equipment, software, hardware, peripherals, upgrades and components.


  • Setting up/installing equipment such as laptops, data projectors, interactive whiteboards, sound systems and other specialist IT equipment


  • Understanding IT acceptable use and e-Safeguarding policies and communicate to others as needed


  • Maintaining standard network cabling


  • Performing basic diagnostic and recovery routines on network equipment


  • Performing checks to ensure that broadband connectivity is maintained


  • Updating the academy’s intranet and internal systems by uploading pages and files


  • Assisting with the diagnosis and resolution of basic PC, printer, peripheral and software faults


  • Basic disk management on file servers and workstations


  • Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of electronic mail accounts


  • Recording loans of IT equipment


  • With supervision, analysing any process or technical issues, monitoring and taking corrective action on services as per documented operational procedures


  • Supporting procurement of IT related products and services




Ideally, you will have the following skills:





  • Experience of diagnosing and correcting straightforward faults in IT hardware and software


  • Experience of working in a team and completing tasks to deadlines


  • Experience of following and working to instructions, schedules and procedures


  • Experience of keeping basic records


  • Strong relationship-builder based upon fact-based delivery on commitments


  • Communication skills to give information to pupils, teachers and other staff on IT related issues


  • Able to use judgement to solve straightforward problems to support the operation of computers and networks


  • Awareness of potential health and safety risks and issues working with computers and electrical equipment


  • An innovative approach and high energy levels


  • Enthusiastic and action orientated


  • Able to work flexibly according to the needs of the academy




Entry requirements:



The entry requirements for this Cloud Network Specialist programme are as follows:





  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject


  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)


  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject




You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.



If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Future prospects:



92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.
