Description
We are looking for an apprentice Assistant Accountant to
join our friendly accountancy practice in West Kirby.
We are offering a fantastic opportunity to start a career
in accountancy. The successful candidate will be working on a diverse and
interesting client base from the start and will gain access to a broad range of
responsibilities to help develop their practical experience. There will be
supervision, support and training throughout from our qualified and experienced
team members.
The areas of work will include experience of:
- Bookkeeping.
- Administrative
duties including data entry, answering the telephone and taking messages,
photocopying, filing and maintaining computer records.
- Preparation of
sole trader and company accounts.
- Payroll
processing.
- Tax returns.
Any prior experience of the above will be a benefit but is
not a requirement of the role and the successful candidate will receive full on
the job training in addition to the AAT training provided by Kaplan in
Liverpool.
The role will be principally based at our
offices in West Kirby but, as and when required, work may also be undertaken at
our clients’ offices. Our hybrid-working
arrangements mean that a minimum of three days will normally be spent in the
office per week.

- Computer literate.
- Good
attention to detail.
- Strong numeracy skills.
- Practical understanding and experience of
Excel and Word.
- Any experience of using
bookkeeping packages (especially Xero) considered a benefit.
GCSE's grade 9/A*-4/C including Maths and English.
Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3.
This level is ideal for existing staff or new talent in an accounting or finance role. Their work could include assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements.
You will be studying the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. This level will encourage you to master more complex accounting principles in both Bookkeeping and Management Accounting. You will study 5 units:
- Financial Accounting; Preparing Financial Statements (FAPS).
- Management Accounting Techniques (MATS).
- Tax Processes for Business (TPFB).
- Business Awareness (BUAW).
- Advanced Synoptic Assessment (ADSY) which forms part of your End Point Assessment.
Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom based lessons, Live Online sessions or OnDemand. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate 20% of your time towards it.

Please note salary range is between £17,901 -£18,525 dependant on experience.
