Description

We have a range of accounting and tax software so you gain experience in using that software.

You will be mentored by more senior staff and if you have the right attitude you will learn fast in a secure environment.

Role:

· Most of the week will be spent doing accounting jobs with a small section of each day allocated to admin

· Time allocated for studies, which will be undertaken either face to face at college or online.

Duties to include:

1. Accounting jobs

a. Quarterly VAT Returns

b. Sole Traders and Partnership accounts

c. Limited Company accounts

d. Management accounts, using cloud accounts software

2. Admin duties

a. Chasing clients for records and helping them with queries

b. Some admin tasks, eg, filing, archiving, making tea for clients etc

c. Dealing with queries using Microsoft outlook, telephone

d. Keeping company checklists up to date

e. Assisting with the onboarding of new clients

3. Tax and Payroll

a. Completing Sole trader and Partnership tax returns

b. Completing Corporation tax computations

c. Using Sage Line 50 Payroll for Weekly/Monthly wages

Working Week: Monday to Thursday 9-5.15/Friday 9-5

  • IT literate:
  • We use a wide range of accountancy software including IRIS, SAGE Line 50 payroll and accounts, Quickbooks, Xero, FreeAgent and Kashflow, as well as Practice Management software for job planning, timesheets etc and OpenSpace for secure document exchange and electronic sign off withy clients.
  • Training will be provided however the candidate must have basic IT literacy and be willing to learn.

Level 2 a minimum of English and maths grades A*- D (9-5) (or equivalent) are desirable or willingness to complete Functional Skills Level 1/2

STANDARD & LEVEL

The successful candidate will work towards completing the Level 2 or Level 3 AAT Standard from the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education.

Off-the-job training

Developing your skills at work is called on-the-job training, 20% of your apprenticeship (equal to one full day a week) will be ‘off-the-job’. This might include attending College, tackling projects, online learning, coaching, shadowing, or training for your job.

Stacks of support

Assessment mostly takes place in the workplace. When you start, you will be allocated a skills coach, who will visit you at least once a month to guide and support you and help you to plan for your future. We will also provide you with specialist support for your English and maths and for any additional needs that you make us aware of.

· Keen to add value to the business and to the role

· Good telephone manner / client facing skills

· Personally effective – organised, happy to ask for help if unsure of task requested / being undertaken

· Will be able to strive for CPD (Continuous Professional Development) inside the work place and at a college.
