Description

Duties include:

  • Preparation of year end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited company businesses.
  • Bookkeeping duties including preparation of VAT returns on various accounting packages and Microsoft Excel.
  • Preparation of management accounts.
  • Involvement in statutory audit fieldwork as part of an audit team.

  • IT literate, confident using Microsoft Office

  • AAT level 4 or a relevant degree.
  • At least three A levels at grade A* – C , in a relevant field of study such as:

o Accounting and/or finance

o Business

o Chemistry

o Economics

o Engineering

o Medicine

o Physics

o Statistics

o A combination of the above.

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s Grade 4 - 9 (A* – C) including English Language and Mathematics.

ACCA Level 7

There are three levels including Applied Knowledge, Applied Skills and Strategic Professional.


Applied Knowledge helps you understand the role of accounting in the business environment, and develop the practical skills and techniques expected of an accountant working in business.


The area you will cover include:

  • Management Accounting

  • Financial Accounting

Applied Skills encourages you to develop a broad understanding of the role of accounting in business, and how to interpret financial information.

The area you will cover include:

  • Corporate and business law (ENG) (LW)

  • Performance Management (PM)

  • Taxation (TX-UK)

  • Financial Reporting (FR)

  • Audit and Assurance (AA)

  • Financial Management (FM)

By studying Strategic Professional, you’ll learn advanced techniques, skills, and the professional ethics required of an accountant or consultant operating at a senior level. Once you’ve successfully passed you can apply to be a full member of ACCA.

The Apprenticeship standard details the essential Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours that somebody would need to demonstrate to be successful in this job role, this includes, Business Awareness, Ethics, Communication, Leadership, Planning and Prioritisation and Problem Solving. Apprentices will need to show they are competent in all the areas detailed in the standard when they take End Point Assessment.

The Knowledge areas of the standard will typically be covered through completion of the qualification. Skills and Behaviours are developed through workshops, e-learning, workplace training and practical experience provided ‘on-the-job’.


  • A client focused attitude along with interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with clients are prerequisites.
  • A successful applicant will be a team player with good time management skills.

  • Salary range between £13,500 - £18.500, depending on experience
  • 20 holiday days, plus bank holidays. Holiday days rise to 24 days once qualified
