Description

Restructuring Advisory

Location - London

Our Restructuring Advisory school leaver apprenticeship programme will give you all the skills and support you need to unlock a future that’s packed with opportunities and new experiences. You’ll enjoy a fast-tracked business career that recognises your potential and rewards your ambition.

As part of our specialist Corporate Simplification team, you’ll enjoy a powerful combination of on-the-job learning and structured training – not to mention an impressive client list to work with. You’ll discover a culture that nurtures individuality and an environment where everyone is supported to reach their potential. With us, you’ll always be moving forward.

What does our specialist Corporate Simplification team do?

We work with large corporates and owner managed businesses and their advisers, lenders and other specialists to wind-down companies. This could include advice on how to:

Help corporate groups to rationalise their structures;

Develop strategies for the orderly wind-down of solvent business operations;

Provide a co-ordinated multi-disciplinary approach to mitigate risk for directors;

Extract value from companies for shareholders and stakeholders.

Our Corporate Simplification team focus on solvent Liquidations which includes simplifying corporate structures by helping clients to reduce the number of companies in the group and assisting shareholders to realise the surplus assets in their company.

Our clients include large corporate groups and owner-managed businesses, including high net worth individuals. We undertake [co-ordinate] a due diligence process on the target companies, identify risk areas and work closely with our clients, other RSM specialists, external specialists and legal advisors to create and implement co-ordinated strategies to resolve any issues.

We deliver projects which enable our clients to mitigate risk and wind-down companies in a professional manner.

What can you expect?

RSM’s school leaver apprenticeship in Restructuring Advisory offers top quality career development. The depth of services and clients you’ll be exposed to will help you kick-start your career. You could be working with a wide variety of organisations, including large listed financial institutions, national retail chains, and high-profile charities, as well as some of our international clients that operate throughout the UK and beyond.

At RSM, you’ll be a key member of our team from day one. You’ll get involved in client work very quickly, initially working as part of a larger team before taking on individual responsibility for projects. Once you’ve completed your initial professional qualifications, the complexity of your workload will increase, and you’ll have the opportunity to take on more individual responsibilities and get involved in more challenging issues. With us, you’ll have the space to grow and be challenged.

Alongside hands-on experience, you’ll benefit from on-the-job training from more senior members of the team and gain access to our internal training courses that will help you develop in the role. With our support, you’ll become a true trusted adviser to your clients in the future.

When you join this team, you’ll first work towards the CPI qualification (Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency) followed by the AAT qualification with the Association of Accounting Technicians. You will then have the opportunity to study towards the ACA qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), or your Chartered Accountancy (CA) qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) or with Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI).

What we look for

We’re on the lookout for enthusiastic self-starters who are always up for a challenge. Corporate Simplification is a technically demanding discipline which also requires practical problem-solving skills, so we look for students who are quick to grasp new subjects. It’s important to have an inquisitive mind and pay close attention to detail. You’ll often need to review complex legal and technical information; prepare legal documentation and work closely with our clients so you’ll need excellent written and verbal communication skills. We also need you to be proactive and organised as you will be working to strict legal deadlines. What separates us from our competitors is the financial acumen we demonstrate, and we expect that right from the start from our people.

If that sounds like you, we know you’ll enjoy being part of our team.
