C&I engineers create, simplify and automate processes. We deal with systems that measure and control all kinds of things - from the flow of water, to the temperature of a furnace. AWE's goal is to make sure complex processes can take place at the simple press of a button. In C&I, they maintain, install and develop equipment used to control a variety of processes within AWE's production environment. That means everything from air handling units which keep clean air flowing safely through different working environments, through to programmable logic controllers which use advanced IT to control a variety of systems.
C&I Maintenance may appeal to you if you enjoy:

You'll need to demonstrate:
- A practical aptitude for engineering or technology
- Computer literacy (PC)

- A passion and motivation for this profession
- Preferably GCSE in Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)
- 5 GCSE’s grade 4/c or above
It all begins in AWE's Skills Academy. You'll attend a range of lectures designed to increase your knowledge and understanding of a wide range of circuits and systems. Importantly, you will also learn and develop vital control and instrumentation skills by completing various projects. Once your training at the Academy is complete, you'll move to the highly practical, on-site phase of training. Taking part in a variety of different placements, you will use your new skills to maintain, repair, install and calibrate equipment that is used across AWE. You will spend the whole second half of your apprenticeship on placements.
Applicants must be aged 16 or over, as of 31st August 2024 due to security clearance requirements
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. Please note that you must be a British National to apply for a role.
