Community Activator Coach Apprenticeship L2 including Functional Skills in Maths and English
You must be enthusiastic about wanting to work within the sport and physical activity sector and be committed to inspiring others to be more physically active. No prior coaching experience is required, but a willingness to learn, develop and challenge yourself is essential. As with any apprenticeship programme, you will be required to complete a qualification as part of your employment. As far as is possible, we will work to make this as practical as possible, to ensure you can put your learning into practice
There are several avenues in which you can progress within Bristol Sport Foundation. The direction of progression is always supported by your mentor but is also largely self-led. We are eager to help individuals who show consistently strong work ethic to excel in their areas of passion by providing training, additional responsibilities, as well potentially more paid hours and/or salary increments to match. Following the completion of the apprenticeship, we will (where possible on the proviso of schools renewing their contracts for the next academic year) look to offer progression opportunities to as many of our apprentices as possible. The individuals may chose to transition into a community/specialist/head coach role, or possibly a role within our operations team. Over the last few years, we have employed several apprentices to become full time coaches with Bristol Sport Foundation.
Bristol Sport Foundation have partner schools across Greater Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset. It is therefore desirable for applicants to be able to drive and have access to a vehicle. It is not a barrier to employment with BSF if you do not have access to a vehicle that you can drive. We have some members of the team who don't at the moment. However, applicants should be aware that they will need be required to use public transport to get to a range of schools across all the different areas we reach. This requires being organised to allow sufficient travel time to ensure that you arrive to schools with plenty of time before delivery. To try and support those who don't have a vehicle, we look to (where possible) place individuals in schools near to where they live and/or coordinate transport with other coaches who can provide lifts to the schools. Expenses are also provided for select journeys.
