Description

Are you looking to begin a career within IT Support? Aberlour Children's Charity are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join their IT team and become a valuable member of the team. The successful candidate will learn to prioritise and resolve first line support calls depending on the support needs of staff members.



Aberlour Children’s Charity helps disadvantaged children and families in Scotland have a brighter future. They offer a range of services across Scotland such as residential and fostering care, early intervention and urgent assistant funds.



What will I be doing?





  • Support the day to day running of the IT helpdesk including responding to user queries received via phone, email and in person within agreed time frames


  • Resolve incidents assigned to the Helpdesk using a variety of resources (personal knowledge, Internet, publications, and training), escalating issues/helpdesk requests where necessary for 2nd or 3rd line support


  • Assist with installation and support of locally installed desktop software operating systems and applications including cloud based packages such as Office 365, (primarily Aberlour is a Windows based platform)


  • Support the development and distribution of procedures for resolving support requests and contributing to an IT Knowledge Base


  • Configure new hardware and software such as Windows based desktops, laptops and smart phones from a variety of hardware providers


  • Visit Aberlour service sites where necessary to troubleshoot and resolve IT related issues or support user IT induction training


  • Help improve users’ confidence in the use of technology being empathetic to a variety of new and experienced learners needs


  • Support the annual technology refresh activity by helping keeping track of all IT assets making sure they are registered and securely marked


  • Maintain a log of any software or hardware problems detected via the helpdesk




What do I need to be successful?





  • 3 National 5’s at A-C level including English and Maths


  • Good problem solving skills and good communication skills


  • Good understanding of delivering good customer service


  • IT application skills desirable


  • Ability to demonstrate a passion and interest in IT, digital systems and services


  • Ability and commitment to achieve all the outcomes of the apprenticeship




Salary:



£21,555 per annum



Working week:



35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm
