The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research.



Overview: 
The Infrastructure Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting and managing our IT infrastructure services which underpin our internal and public facing user services.



You will work within a team of infrastructure specialists and engineers where you will both be involved in supporting a wide range of Infrastructure services and devices, delivering support as required and engaging in project delivery with senior team members and contractors where appropriate.



Salary:
£34,841 per annum.



Key responsibilities:





  • Provide support for Infrastructure services and devices, including Cloud and on-prem


  • Monitor, respond to and resolve incidents and problem tickets escalated to you


  • Ensure services are available and resolutions are delivered within SLA’s and


  • Work with and support third parties in providing infrastructure services


  • Work with technical architects and senior support officers to support project delivery


  • Provide technical guidance and as needed hands-on service to Delivery Teams and Operations Team




What we are looking for:
Experience:
Essential Criteria:





  • Experience with Microsoft Desktop OS


  • Experience with Microsoft server OS’s




Desirable skills:





  • Experience with VMWare virtualisation


  • Experience with basic Azure diagnostic and support




Technical: 
Essential Criteria:
An understanding of how to perform a diagnostic of infrastructure issues ranging from Windows OS to VM configuration.



Desirable skills:





  • OS - Redhat, Ubuntu, HP UX, Solaris


  • Diagnostic of simple issues on Azure


  • Understanding of Backup systems - veritas netbackup, Azure Files and backup




Entry requirements:





  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject


  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)


  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject




You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.



If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Contract:





  • 20 month - FTC


  • 37 hours a week, Monday-Friday


  • Location: When working from the office and depending on the need, you will be required to work at one our London sites in E14 4PH or EN6 3QG


  • Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave on entry, rising by one day for each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days. PLUS 8 bank holidays 


  • Privilege Leave: 1 day  




Future prospects:
Whilst this can not be guaranteed, apprentices are welcome to apply for a permanent position once they have successfully completed their apprenticeship.
