Our Summit ONE campus in Farnborough is home to the National Sales Company for the BMW Group in the UK, as well as BMW Group Financial Services which offers retailers, corporate and private customers a range of customised financial services. We have an opportunity for two IT Business analyst positions in both the Shared and Regional Services team and within the Financial Services application team.


What will you be doing?

As an IT Apprentice at BMW Group UK/BMW Financial Services, you will have the opportunity to contribute to innovation and change across various IT areas providing services to the business including having responsibility for specific research, planning and implementation tasks under the guidance of senior team members.

These activities include for example:

Supporting with the analysis, development, testing and implementation of IT solutions to satisfy the current and future needs of the business.

Undertaking support and maintenance activities to business applications

Getting involved in wider BMW Group IT initiatives driven from headquarters.


You will also get the opportunity to gain experience in teams providing services to the National Sales Company located at Summit One, Farnborough.

You will be expected to participate in team meetings and training sessions to develop new skills and knowledge with the opportunity to engage with the wider apprentice networks and gain exposure to the wider company through exciting initiatives.

You will be expected to attain detailed knowledge on business and IT processes need for the role, primarily focused on the UK and Ireland Financial Services Group in order to successfully add value and complete your assignment.

Alongside working at BMW, you will have a day release studying for university degree. You will be expected to practice appropriate tools, knowledge and techniques learnt through your university course as part of your placement with BMW.

IT Apprentices at BMW Group UK have the potential to make a significant contribution to driving change across different parts of the business. IT Apprentices will learn about emerging technologies and trends in the IT industry at university. They can share insights and knowledge as well as gaining further insights from IT within the BMW Group to identify and contribute to potential areas which will add value to the business.

Communication will be multi-faceted and at all levels within the IT operational and project teams, as well as with business stakeholders. You will learn to develop and maintain a broad business and IT network, including senior managers, DevOps Hubs, DevOps providers and other external organisations.

What do you need to do now?

You must have demonstrated your interest and relevant experience in IT and the application of this in business.

Knowledge and interest of the Financial Services and Automotive industry must be evidenced.

When it comes to selecting the right apprentices, it’s as much about attitude and behaviours as it is about vocational and academic success. That’s why in addition to the qualifications we require from you, we’ll also look for you to have a range of skills, attributes, and behaviours. These include team working, the ability to work without close supervision, quality focus, good communication skills, enthusiasm, initiative, and the ability to take on responsibility and show accountability for your work.


Qualifications

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade B or Grade 6 (or above), including Maths and English.

A minimum of 2 A Levels (or equivalent) in a Technology, Business or Science at grade C (or above) or a BTEC level 3 (60 credits plus) or equivalent in a relevant Engineering or Technology discipline.


As an Apprentice within the Shared and Regional Services team, you will initially focus in the first 3 months familiarising yourself with the National Sales Company and Financial Services businesses as well as the processes and IT services of the department.

Upon completion of your first 3 months, you will work in a team and assume responsibility for specific assignments in the department including the steering and running of several Shared and Regional Services activities including AGILE Delivery, IT Security, Regional Architecture, UK Retail Expert Desk, Robotic Process Automation and Shared/Lifecycle Reliability Engineering. This will be for the UK and EMEA National Sales Companies and BMW Group Financial Services business.

As an Apprentice within the Financial Services application team, you will initially focus in the first 3 months on familiarising yourself with the Financial Services business and the processes and IT services of the department.

Upon completion of your first 3 months, you will work in a team and assume responsibility for specific assignments in the department including support, maintenance, and delivery of projects across a complex and large-scale IT landscape serving the UK and Ireland Financial Services Group business.

In both It functions you will also gain exposure through undertaking in a variety of placements across the department that will help shape and expand your understanding of the UK, EMEA and Ireland businesses. These will include placements in other areas of the IT department (eg. Applications team) as well as the wider National Sales Company, Financial Services businesses and potentially other sites

Alongside working at BMW Group UK, you will have a day release studying for your university degree with the expectation you will successfully graduate at the end of the 4-year programme.
