MINI Plant Oxford - Level 6 Business (Material and Transport Control, Delivery Assurance Oxford ) - 3.5 Year Apprenticeship (August 2024)

Plant Oxford is the birthplace and heart of MINI production. Manufactured to individual customer specifications, hundreds of MINIs leave the plant’s assembly lines each day, off to meet new owners in more than 110 countries around the world. Three UK plants have a part to play in MINI production – Plant Hams Hall makes engines, Plant Swindon produces body pressings and sub-assemblies for MINI, and all this comes together at Plant Oxford with body shell production, paint, and final assembly.

We are looking for a confident and eager to learn individuals who have a particular interest in ‘data analytics’ and ‘problem solving’ to join us as a Level Six Business Apprentice. As our apprentice, you will spend a large proportion of your time within the Oxford based Material Control and Delivery Assurance teams. We have a very much ‘hands on’ approach to development and learning, you will be gaining experience in a fast paced, challenging and very much dynamic ‘Global Supply Chain’ environment. You will also get the opportunity to gain experience with other departments who interface with our team to gain a good base and insight into the complex relationships and interdependencies. The department is responsible for the supply of all production related material from more than 350 suppliers worldwide to the plant, ensuring that the right part is in the right place at the right time to enable manufacturing to build a quality vehicle.

When it comes to selecting the right apprentices, it’s as much about attitude and behaviours as it is about vocational and academic success. That’s why in addition to the qualifications we require from you, we’ll also look for you to have a range of skills, attributes, and behaviours. These include team working, the ability to work without close supervision, quality focus, good communication skills, enthusiasm, initiative, as well as responsibility and accountability for your work.

Qualifications and Experience

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Level 6/B (or above), including Maths and English.

A minimum of 2 A-Levels at Grade C or above or a BTEC Level 3 (60 credits plus) in a business-related discipline.

A full UK driver’s license and a willingness to commute are essential as this role will involve spending time at both our Oxford and Hams Hall plants.

Strong numerical skills are highly advantageous.

Confident communication skills are essential as you will have exposure to senior managers throughout your apprenticeship.

Your Training - The BMW Group offers an enhanced level 6 apprenticeship commencing in August 2024. The three and a half year programme is designed to enable you to experience different business functions in an exciting environment that is constantly developing. You will have the opportunity to build networks and put skills which are being continually learnt into practical use by working on projects alongside other members of the business and carrying out tasks independently.

The apprenticeship will provide several different opportunities to support individual career development. You will also be provided with the support and guidance necessary to ensure your training is successful.

Whilst developing specialist, on-the-job knowledge, you will also undertake fully funded study toward the attainment of a BA (Hons) in Management and Business at Abingdon & Witney College (affiliated with Oxford Brookes University).

Your Year-on-Year Progression - Throughout the apprenticeship, you will continue with the academic requirements of the programme alongside on-the-job training. Your on-the-job training will comprise of placements in a number of previously mentioned areas of the business.

In the latter part of the apprenticeship, your on-the-job training will continue and will become more targeted to your final job within our Logistics department.
