Description

Purpose of the Position:

Working alongside our highly skilled upholsterers you will be trained in both traditional and modern upholstery methods. After a lengthy training period you will be responsible for upholstering client and internal orders to a pre-approved standard with the materials and processes specified.

As a member of the team, you will also assist in ad hoc workshop tasks including tidying, moving and stocking up on materials.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will dedicate themselves to a training period in which they will apply their existing skills to Soane’s designs. These skills will be applied to client and internal orders to maintain a consistent output of quality upholstered furniture. Responsibilities will include completing work on time, to specification, and to the agreed quality control standard. As well as, keeping the workshop presentable and safe.

· Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple responsibilities and meeting deadlines.

· An enthusiasm for furniture making, willingness to learn and develop new skills.

· Takes a safety conscious approach to work with an understanding of the safe use of workshop machinery, hand and air tools.

· Experience of remedial or restorative furniture work would be beneficial.

· A Diploma or other qualification in upholstery.

· Ideally 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

Proactive and self-motivated with a can-do attitude, willing to actively contribute to the team and take initiative when necessary
