Specific support and mentoring for vacancies in DWP and the wider Civil Service.

Day to day we look for a ‘smart- casual’ dress style – this means we don’t expect you to wear a shirt and tie but don’t want to see tracksuits either.

You must consider any logos on your clothing’s that may cause offence or have any political or offensive messages. As these cannot be worn. Your Job Centre Work Coach can help you with this and there is also funding to help if you do not have suitable clothing. This is given on a case-by-case basis and is based on your circumstances.

In 2023 we supported over 2000 young people on a placement and many who took part in the programme found employment both in and outside of the Civil Service.

Gavin secured permanent employment with DWP following his Movement to Work experience and is now a Youth Ambassador for the programme. He has recently hosted the 2022 MtW Youth Summit in Birmingham.

“Before starting my Movement to Work I was thinking what I can possibly get from this. After the introduction from the participant manager, I felt more confident about partaking. It was a time in my life where I felt like stuff was starting to happen and I was feeling recognised.” Gavin Phipps DWP MtW youth Ambassador and MtW Rising Star award winner 2023

Scott secured employment with DWP, via the Social Mobility Apprenticeship, following his Movement to Work experience and is now a Youth Ambassador for the programme.

“I found the experience extremely informative and useful for my future career path. The support during and after the programme is excellent, with a person-centred approach throughout.”
