Description

PK Stud is offering a fantastic opportunity for an apprentice groom to join a family-run business specializing in breeding and producing young show jumpers with world-class bloodlines and abilities.

We are successful show jumpers and have a small breeding program with top-quality mares and stallions who have some of the best bloodlines in Europe. As well as having an excellent choice of young show jumpers for sale, they also take horses to produce for owners at any stage of their career, including breaking in, training, competing, or on sales livery.

We have a UKCC Level 3 qualified coach on-site and can offer training for every level horse and rider.

The successful candidate must be confident in handling youngsters.

General yard duties will include;

  • Mucking out
  • Tacking up and tack cleaning
  • Bringing in and turning out
  • Clipping/pulling/trimming/plaiting
  • Bathing
  • Schooling
  • Exercising horses (including lunging, horse walker, long reining)
  • Bandaging
  • Rug changing
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist
  • Paddock maintenance

Experience with horses is essential as successful candidate must be a competent rider. Please note that applicants with no experience will not be considered for this position.

A GCSE or equivalent pass in English and maths is beneficial but not essential.

If you do not have passes, we will support you in achieving your Functional Skills English and maths qualifications alongside your apprenticeship.

Full training through the Equine Apprenticeship with the employer and supported by Haddon Training. All training will take place at the employers premises.

  • Passionate about breeding and show-jumping
  • Ambitious to succeed within the equine industry
  • Hard working with a positive attitude
  • Happy work outside in all weather
For the right candidate, there is the possibility to progress on to a Level 3 Horse Care -(Senior Groom) Apprenticeship upon successful completion of the Level 2.
No accommodation is available on-site so you must be able to make your way to and from the yard reliably each day.
