Are you enthusiastic about working with young people? This is an opportunity to gain experience and qualifications in Youth Work and Sports Coaching, and to make a positive difference in the lives of young people. Work with our friendly Youth Team to deliver a range of fun, engaging activities in Youth Club venues around Warwick. You will be supporting our Youth Sessions for children aged 7 - 11yrs at The Gap, Chase Meadow, Woodloes & Heathcote Community Centres

Description

At The Gap Community Centre you will work towards your L2 Community Activator Coach Apprenticeship Qualification over the course of 24 Months, you will also get an additional Youth Work L2 & Youth Work L3 qualification.

We have one position for 16+ and one position for an 18+ candidate.

The successful applicant will...

Be trained and supported to plan and deliver activities with young people, working as part of our dedicated Youth Team.

Build positive relationships with young people and encourage their participation and empowerment.

Assist with the set-up of Youth Sessions and packing down at the end of sessions.

Work safely, in line with The Gap Youth Risk Assessments.

Activities overview

GapACTIVE! - sports & team games to encourage teamwork, leadership and an active lifestyle.

GapCHALLENGE! teamwork activities inside and outside. The challenges include problem-solving games and STEM activities such as creating egg parachutes to safely launch an egg from a height ...all great fun and excellent for developing teamwork and cognitive skills.

GapGO! - Outdoor Skills such as shelter-building, navigation, First Aid, camp craft, fire safety, outdoor cooking, survival skills, pioneering and natural crafts. Activities are designed to encourage teamwork, resilience and leadership skills as well as improved self-confidence and wellbeing. We offer a one-night residential Camp in the Summer, as part of our GapGO! programme.

GapCREATIVE! - Arts & Crafts plus STEM activities such as DIY slime. Great wellbeing activities to help young people develop their listening and communication, confidence, creativity and fine-motor skills.

GapCOOK! cooking workshops to equip young people with valuable life skills, improve their confidence and knowledge of cooking techniques and enable them to improve their practical cooking skills.

PLUS regular seasonal activities such as Easter Egg hunt, summer residential, offsite trips eg. Jump In, kayaking/paddleboarding, HAF holiday clubs, Halloween/Christmas games & crafts, Halloween Party and Christmas Party.

No Qualifications Required. All Training will be provided, including an additional Youth Work L2 & Youth Work L3.
Community Activator Coach Apprenticeship L2 including Functional Skills in Maths and English Youth Work L2 & Youth Work L3

A successful Apprentice will be offered a permanent role as a Youth Worker at the end of their apprenticeship period. Further promotion to Youth Team Leader is possible in the future.
