As this is a first-line support post, we would expect this IT Technician to have the ability and technical knowledge to assist staff and students with their support and audio-visual requirements. To be flexible and willing to contribute to the development of the IT systems used in the school. An ability and willingness to learn all aspects of the job is very important and suitable training will be given.Managing IT support requests and incidents from receipt to resolution and closure using the online ticketing system.
To provide excellent customer service, assisting staff and pupils in the use of IT resources.
To assist the Director of Digital Infrastructure and CST Lead Engineer in the development and smooth running of all IT systems, networks and Internet Security systems.
To assist in supporting and managing of a range of devices, including iOS and MacOS environments.
To provide IT and AV support for Public and Internal Examinations.
To provide IT and AV support for school events including occasional duties out of school hours.
To help ensure that devices are kept up to date and that security software is up-to-date.
To help monitor consumables and to arrange for orders to be placed.
To check new computer equipment and carry out the routine installation of software including the installation of Operating Systems on the equipment.
To assist with the maintenance of the equipment inventory.
To assist with the creation and management of user accounts.
To assist the Director of Digital Infrastructure to execute his wider school responsibilities e.g. software support, distribution of devices and staff training.
To keep abreast of current developments in IT within schools.
To promote high standards of Health & Safety with regards to IT and other technology.
To help ensure that the School operates within the law with respect to software licenses, data protection and IT use.
To complete any administrative paperwork promptly and to a high standard.

The successful applicant should be able to showcase their IT experience and knowledge as an 'IT Hobbyist' and have a desire to turn this into a career. This could be building custom PCs, or hosting virtual machines via a home-based server. Some knowledge and experience of fixing IT-related incidents at home for friends and family would also be an advantage.
GCSE Maths & English (Grade C/4 or above)
Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communication Technician qualification: IT Support Technician
The qualification has core knowledge elements, before branching out into one of the following pathways:
Digital Communications Technician
Your Tutor, Pathway Planner and Employer will decide the best pathway for you to follow.
All training is delivered online in virtual classrooms twice per week
You will undertake Functional Skills for English and/or Maths if needed¯
Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Ability to prioritise
Possible full-time role on completion of the apprenticeship.
