Description

Salary:


  • First 6 months: £18,600 + benefits
  • Until completion of phase two training: £25,000 + benefit
  • After technical training: £27,200 + benefits

(After one year of service and completing Professional Workplace Assessments on first posting)

What You Will Do:


  • Work in workshops and hangars to make and fix parts for aircrafts, vehicles, and special equipment.
  • Use tools and machines to drill, mill, cut, and shape materials.
  • Build or modify aircraft parts following strict guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Aircraft Technicians on part removal and fitting.

By the end of your apprenticeship, you will have:


  • Learnt to make and repair parts for various structures, such as bridges, oil rigs, ships, and vehicles.

  • Gained a professional qualification recognised in the civilian world.
  • Secured a guaranteed job in your chosen role.

  • Be aged 16 – 47 years old (Must attest before 48th birthday)
  • Be a citizen of the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, holder of dual UK/other nationality or have been a Commonwealth citizen since birth (with ‘right to work’ immigration status)
  • Commit to minimum 3 years post Phase Two Training
  • Pass the Defence Aptitude Assessment
  • Pass a Fitness test - Details below

  • GCSE grade C/4 or Scottish National 5 grade C in English language, Mathematics and an approved Science/Technology-based subject.


  • If a candidate lacks either GCSE English or Maths (but not both), they must complete the DAA and achieve Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths or English during Phase 1 training at RAF Halton before entering Phase 2. Failure to achieve the required academic standard may result in the candidate being discharged from the Service.
