Description

As an Apprentice Accountant, you will join Burberry on a four year development program. You will be immersed in Burberry’s finance teams with exposure to the global Payment and Procurement Operations (PPO), Sales Order to Cash (SOTC) and Record to Report (RTR) teams based at Burberry Business Services (BBS) Leeds. In conjunction with this, you will build your technical knowledge through undertaking the ACCA qualification. This is a globally recognised and respected qualification which will help build practical accounting skills and be foundational to your future career development.

This apprenticeship program will provide the following benefits:

The types of activities you may experience across each team include:

  • Payment and Procurement Operations.
  • Participating in procurement administrative activities such as vendor onboarding and purchase order management.
  • Collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth procurement processes.
  • Analysing procurement data to identify efficiency opportunities and optimize processes.
  • Learning about procurement regulations, compliance, and ethical considerations.
  • Sales Order to Cash.
  • Monitoring accounts receivable aging balances and supporting collections efforts.
  • Supporting the cash office team with the reconciliation of bank accounts and the allocation of cash receipts/payments.
  • Collaborating with sales and customer service teams to address inquiries, raise manual invoices and resolve discrepancies.
  • Learning about credit management, and sales-related financial analysis. Record to Report.
  • Assisting in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring data integrity.
  • Participating in month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Collaborating with the team to prepare financial reports and statements. Learning and applying accounting principles, regulations, and reporting standards.
  • You will also work throughout on projects that require cross-functional collaboration and critical thinking. This will enable you to apply your accumulated expertise to financial scenarios and other challenges.

  • No specific experience required, but a passion for the luxury fashion industry and finance is a plus.

  • Audit and Assurance (AA)

  • Financial Management (FM)

By studying Strategic Professional, you’ll learn advanced techniques, skills, and the professional ethics required of an accountant or consultant operating at a senior level. Once you’ve successfully passed you can apply to be a full member of ACCA.

The Apprenticeship standard details the essential Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours that somebody would need to demonstrate to be successful in this job role, this includes, Business Awareness, Ethics, Communication, Leadership, Planning and Prioritisation and Problem Solving. Apprentices will need to show they are competent in all the areas detailed in the standard when they take End Point Assessment.

The Knowledge areas of the standard will typically be covered through completion of the qualification. Skills and Behaviours are developed through workshops, e-learning, workplace training and practical experience provided ‘on-the-job’.
