Description

We are Tommies Childcare. Since 1998, we have provided exciting and memorable early years experiences for children aged 0 - 5 years. We are looking for creative and compassionate people looking to start a career as an Early Years Practitioner and Educator via our Apprenticeship programme. At the end of this Apprenticeship, you will be a Level 3-qualified Early Years Educator.

During your apprenticeship you wil be expected to;

•To be part of a team that provides a purposeful, stimulating environment rich in learning opportunities, both indoors and outdoors. Activities should take into account children’s abilities, interests, language and cultural backgrounds

•To be flexible within working practices of the nursey and be prepared to help where needed; including undertaking domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack, cleansing of equipment, putting out bins etc. To also be flexible with regard to working in different rooms as and when required to ensure effective operation of the nursery

•Respond appropriately to issues regarding confidentiality

•Work well as part of a team

•Work with the team to ensure the smooth running of the nursery day

•Participate in all self-development activities including appraisal and supervisions

•To ensure that all children are treated as individuals and that we are supporting this through our approach to planning in line with the EYFS

•Ensure that settling in and transitions are well managed for all children, ensuring they are well communicated to parents, carers and colleagues

•Deal with any parent issues or concerns in a timely manner, escalating any issues to your line manager as necessary

•To support the planning and implementation of activities with individual or groups of children; promoting effective teaching and learning

•To follow the guidance and requirements as set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework

•To provide support for the children’s emotional and social needs by implementing the principles for promoting positive behaviour and role modelling high standards in all aspects of their role and personal conduct

  • GCSE maths and English or equivalent at a level 1 (grade 3) preferred.
  • Option for skills Bootcamp course to start accelerated apprenticeship at level 3 for the right candidate.

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Tommies Childcare will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.

You will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard, which includes:

• Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours

• Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator

• Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid

• Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

This will be delivered through Tommies Childcare's dedicated training provider, Realise.
