They have an exciting opportunity for a level 3 apprentice to work in the Explorers Day Nursery.

Within this role you will be expected to;

  • To work as an assistant teacher within one of our rooms with children ages 0-5.
  • To contribute to discussions around the development of the nursery setting.
  • To act as a co-key person to a group of children, building secure relationship and supporting with appropriate record keeping.
  • To be responsible and committed to protecting all children within your care, at all times.
  • To develop a knowledge of all safeguarding and child protection policies - in particular, the process for reporting any concerns, including concerns about colleagues. (Please see separate Whistleblowing Policy) ensuring all child protection, safeguarding,
  • To safeguard and promote the welfare of children by ensuring health & safety policies and procedures are followed at all time.
  • To always report any concerns about practice or child welfare to the nursery management team without delay
  • To have a commitment to learning to develop an understanding of exceptional practice, with a determination to always ensure high quality teaching education.
  • To keep up to date with all legislation, and changes to national policy
  • To support the Nursery Teachers in creating an engaging and stimulating learning environment for the children to explore and learn, providing provocations around their interests using ‘Planning in the moment.’
  • To build strong relationships with parents, knowing them by name.
  • To act always as an exceptional role model for children and colleagues.
  • To complete required training, as set out in the induction programme or as set by the nursery management team.
  • To be a flexible member of staff, within the nursery day.
  • To perform any other roles as requested by the Room Leader and Nursery Management Team.

  • GCSE maths and English or equivalent at a level 1 (grade 3) preferred.
  • Option for skills Bootcamp course to start accelerated apprenticeship at level 3 for the right candidate.

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Little Shipmates will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.

You will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard, which includes:

• Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours

• Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator

• Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid

• Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

This will be delivered through Little Shipmates' dedicated training provider, Realise.
