As an aspiring engineer, you'll dedicate an extraordinary 80% of your time to practical training in our Calibration Lab, working shoulder-to-shoulder with our seasoned engineers, gaining invaluable insights and honing your skills through real-world applications.

Transforming your journey into the field of Metrology, your apprenticeship becomes an expedition into the fascinating world of precision measurement. Your apprenticeship will encompass a wide array of metrological techniques and practices, distinct yet interconnected with mechanical engineering principles:

  • Metrological Techniques and Tools: Immerse yourself in the core of metrology, learning about the various tools and techniques for precise measurement. Understand how to apply these tools in both traditional and modern settings, ensuring accuracy and reliability in measurements.
  • Environmental Conditions and Metrology: Understand how environmental conditions affect measurements. Learn about the factors that can influence measurement accuracy, such as temperature and humidity, and how to mitigate these effects in practice.
  • Calibration and Quality Assurance: Discover the importance of calibration in maintaining the accuracy of measurement instruments. Learn how to perform calibration procedures and understand their role in quality assurance processes, ensuring instruments meet the required standards and regulations.
  • Dimensional Metrology: Explore the world of dimensional metrology, where you'll learn about measuring the physical size and shape of objects. Understand the principles behind different measuring devices and techniques, from calipers to coordinate measuring machines, and how they are applied in various engineering projects.

During your apprenticeship you will attend The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) which is a world-leading centre of excellence 6-week blocks over the 3 year apprenticeship. Worry not though-full accommodation, travel reimbursement, and meal allowance will be provided when you find yourself away from home.

Upon successful qualification and completion of the apprenticeship, we guarantee you a secure role within our team! And you'll not only possess a deep understanding of engineering principles and practices but also the confidence and competence to tackle a variety of engineering challenges. This program is designed to catapult your career, preparing you for a future as a skilled engineer who can adapt to the ever-evolving demands of the industry.
