About the Role
In January 2024, Costello Medical reached the milestone of 400 global employees. As the company continues to expand, so does our in-house Legal team, all of whom play a vital role in driving our commercial strategies and contributing to the management of various legal aspects, such as data protection, intellectual property, commercial property, employment, and more.
Due to this exciting growth, we are seeking a talented Legal Apprentice who is eager to make a significant impact on Costello Medical’s evolving legal framework. Working closely with experienced members of the team, you will contribute to the smooth running of our Legal function across all regions in which we operate. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and proactive individual to gain exposure to a range of legal work and projects with a commercial focus, all whilst developing the skills and knowledge needed to build a career in law.
The successful candidate will work towards the Level 3 Certificate of Higher Education in Law and Legal Practice, which usually takes around 24 months to complete. The apprenticeship training will be provided online by BPP and will include tutor support, access to a virtual learning environment and regular webinars. Further details about the apprenticeship can be found here: https://www.bpp.com/courses/law/apprenticeships/paralegal-apprenticeship
Alongside your structured learning, you will receive on-the-job training and support from several members of our Legal team, including our Head of Legal, Duncan Drummond, who has acquired a wealth of experience in the legal sector throughout his professional career thus far. We also have two other colleagues who have recently completed, or are in the process of completing, their own Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), and can provide support and guidance as needed.
Following completion of the apprenticeship, you could be given the opportunity to apply for a permanent position at Costello Medical with the option of further study.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting with client and supplier negotiations
- Day-to-day management of the company’s internal document management system, Parchment
- Providing administrative support for a range of legal projects and collaborations across the company
- Conducting legal research across a range of topics and jurisdictions
- Organising and attending meetings, taking minutes, and creating actionable insights
- Supporting with the creation and provision of company-wide and divisional training
- Helping to develop and manage company-wide legal policy frameworks
- Providing a variety of ad-hoc support for senior colleagues across the Legal team and the wider Operations team, where required
The Recruitment Process
Our recruitment process includes a telephone interview with a member of the Talent Acquisition team, followed by an assessment for you to complete in your own time. If successful, you will be invited to an interview with senior members of our Legal team.
We are currently recruiting for our start date on Monday 5th August 2024, and the apprenticeship will run for approximately 24 months. The deadline for applications is Friday 5th July 2024, with interviews taking place shortly after. We would strongly recommend applying as early as possible so that we can begin processing your application.
