Coach Core's vision is to drive social mobility through apprenticeships and sport, so that every young person can reach their true potential and inspire those around them. Since our launch in 2012, we have worked with over 150 of the biggest sports providers, youth clubs and charities in the country, supporting over 500 young people.
The Community Activator Coach role is the perfect opportunity to understand the role of sport and physical activity in the Community, and as a coach with Horsham Sports Services you will be helping to run high quality sports coaching services to clients and customers in the Horsham District area.
You will be:
- Coaching a range of sports including those of a more traditional and team nature, those of a smaller and niche status and those deemed more inclusive in nature
- Officiating and administering a variety of sports events, particularly those involving primary aged school teams and children
- Taking positive steps to identify and overcome barriers to participation amongst people from disadvantaged backgrounds, as part of addressing issues of access and inclusion.
- Extending sports participation and competition in schools and promoting increased linkage with sports clubs to ensure that more young people stay in the sport on a long-term basis.
- Effectively working with lead coaches and as part of coaching teams
- Supporting and guiding young volunteers and sports leaders where appropriate.
- Committed to the training requirements of the apprenticeship offered through the Coach Core process and those, such as coach awards, in support of the company's business objectives.
- Undertaking administrative duties appropriate to the role such as taking registers
- Following the guidelines and principles of the Company's policies and procedures.
The role requires a lot of travelling, principally but not exclusively across the Horsham District area, so it is essential that you are able to drive and have access to a car.
There is no office base so from an administrative perspective there is significant reliance on communication by phone, email, Zoom and text to make for smooth and effective team working.
What your apprenticeship includes:
-A mixture of face to face and online catch ups every 4 - 6 weeks to discuss feedback and progress
-A mixture of on and off the job training, including workshops and webinars
-Reviews every 12 weeks with your Line Manager and apprenticeship Trainer
-The chance to get Functional Skills in English and maths (if you don't already have GCSE)
We particularly welcome applicants from female, black, minority, ethnic (BME) communities, disabled people and homosexual, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities, as they are currently underrepresented within our workforce.
You will work towards your community activator coach l2 qualification over the course of 12-18 months
