Description

The Planning and Operations team supports the Technology Appraisals team in delivering guidance to the NHS and patients by scheduling the work programme, overseeing and managing processes and business operations and managing stakeholder relationships.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Arranging meetings, including forward attendance planning, preparing papers or agendas, and ensuring that meetings operate in accordance with NICE’s standards
  • Creating and maintaining electronic documents, including using MS Office
  • Providing support to the management team including diary management for directors when required
  • Processing travel and accommodation booking requests for staff and stakeholders as required
  • Providing effective liaison and maintain good working relationships between NICE teams
  • Communicating clearly by phone and email with both internal and external contacts in a professional manner
  • Drafting and sending out emails to external stakeholders via the Planning Database and Outlook
  • Dealing with day-to-day enquiries and referring to other members of the team as appropriate
  • Greeting visitors at reception
  • Representing the team at operational meetings and taking notes
  • Keeping databases and webpages up to date including uploading documents on the internal intranet, NICE Space
  • Keeping the electronic filing system tidy, including using the correct policies about disposing of confidential information and sensitive information.
  • Handling and disposing of confidential information appropriately

    • Good IT skills, including a proficiency in MS 365 products (SharePoint, Planner, Outlook, Word and Excel – although further training can be offered)
    • Good organisation and time management skills
    • Good written skills, especially spelling and grammar
    • Good verbal communication skills, including a good telephone manner and the ability to communicate confidently

    A minimum of 5 GCSEs A*-C (9-4) including English and Maths or equivalent qualifications (e.g. Functional Skills Level 2)

    Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard, which includes:

    • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English

    • Flexible attitude to tasks and working environment
    • Ability to work as part of a team
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently when required
    • Good attention to detail
    • Enthusiastic and eager to learn


    Support and development throughout your apprenticeship to apply for a permanent role at NICE. Alongside your apprenticeship, you'll also have access to online learning, in house training and mentoring.

    Working week: Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 6:00pm
