Description
Are you looking for a completely unique role that will unlock doors into the alcohol industry? We are seeking an individual to work in a unique role, completion of a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Retail.
The role is new and exciting, and involves working in our retail store – an independent wine shop in a village just north of Derby.
This is a rare opportunity for a passionate and committed individual to progress within our company and be supported to undertake relevant qualifications in wine.
The role will be varied,
- Retail sale of selling wine, spirits, gifts and cards.
- Customer Service
- Learn product knowledge
- Talking to customers and helping them find the perfect wine
- Rapport Building
- Taking payments by card or cash
- Answering Customer Queries on the phone or face to face
We also run a variety of tasting events, the apprentice will also support with these – again talking to people at events about wine and supporting with the smooth running of the events. We are also offering corporate tasting events which the successful candidate would also be expected to support with.
We have connections with local and international vineyards, distilleries and wine merchants and there will be opportunities to gain exposure in these environments throughout the apprenticeship. The job can be tiring and will be busy during peak times, but it is an incredibly fun industry to work in and very rewarding! There are progression opportunities within the company upon completion of the Level 2 Apprenticeship.
To become an apprentice, you must:
- be 16 or over
- not already be in full-time education
You can start an apprenticeship whether you’re starting your career, want a change or you're upskilling in your current job. You can have a previous qualification like a degree and still start an apprenticeship.
As an apprentice you’ll:
- have regular one to one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace
- learn and train for a specific job
- get paid and receive holiday leave
- get hands-on experience in a real job
- study for at least 20% of your working hours
- complete assessments during and at the end of your apprenticeship
- be on a career path with lots of future potential

Levels of an apprenticeship
Each apprenticeship has a level and an equivalent education level. You can start an apprenticeship at any level.
At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll achieve the equivalent education level. For example, if you complete a level 3 apprenticeship, you’ll achieve the equivalent of an A level.
