Description
Little Waltham Preschool is on the outskirts of Chelmsford and has been part of the village since 1975.
They are looking for a level 2 apprentice to join the team and gain their qualification whilst working alongside their supportive team.
Main activities;
• To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
• To deliver an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress.
• To help ensure the preschool meets Ofsted requirements at all times.
• To understand and work to preschool nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies
• To plan activities in the moment which ensure each child is working towards the early learning outcomes.
• To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments
• To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the preschool and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement.
• To work in partnership with management and other staff
• To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the preschool aims and objectives
• To pack away at the end of each day, including moving furniture, lifting and carrying

- Empathy and understanding of children under five.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills with children and parents.
- Ability to write reports and keep clear and accurate records.

- Experience preferable but not required
- Maths and English GCSE grade D/3 desirable but not necessary
Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Little Waltham Preschool will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
You will be working towards the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard, which includes:
- Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
- Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner
- Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
This will be delivered through Little Waltham preschool's dedicated training provider, Realise.
