We are seeking a meticulous and technically adapt IT Builds Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to assemble and configure laptops according to company specifications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of hardware components and software installations, ensuring that each laptop is built efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Main Role / Responsibilities [will include but not be limited to]:





  • Assemble laptops by installing hardware components such as CPU, RAM, hard drives, and peripherals.


  • Configure BIOS settings and perform firmware updates as necessary.


  • Install operating systems, drivers, and essential software applications onto laptops.


  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues during the build process.


  • Maintain accurate records of laptop configurations and inventory levels.


  • Assist in developing and updating build processes and documentation.


  • Keep abreast of new technologies and industry trends relevant to laptop hardware and software.


  • Act as overflow for the service desk, providing technical support to end-users as personal learning progresses.




Desirable Skills:





  • Understanding of operating systems, especially Windows and macOS.


  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.


  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.


  • Aptitude for understanding technologies and supporting toolsets.


  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts.


  • Experience with imaging and deployment tools such as Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) or similar.


  • Proficiency in laptop hardware assembly and disassembly.


  • Familiarity with BIOS/UEFI configuration and firmware updates.

  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies.


  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.


  • Patience and empathy when providing technical support to end-users.


  • Integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive information.


  • Proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.


  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.




Entry Requirements:





  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject


  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)


  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject




You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.



If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
