Description
To support the Medical Underwriter and Claims Team
with the processing, investigation and assessment of Group Insurance Products,
specifically Group Income Protection, Life and Critical Illness. To work
collaboratively with colleagues in the team and across the wider Employee
Benefits department, brokers and clients. To take responsibility for providing
administrative support and assistance, with specific responsibility for
managing workflow, timely and accurate processing of
all data associated with the medical underwriting and claims functions and management systems, including pre claim Early
Intervention services. Ensuring a high level of customer service, responding to
general client and broker enquiries relating to the progress of an application
for insurance or claim / early intervention referral.
Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
- Carry
out all administrative tasks relating to the Medical Underwriting and
Group Income Protection Claims and Early Intervention functions including,
but not limited to creation and management of underwriting and claim
records, raising requests for medical evidence and dealing with emails and
answering phone calls from third parties (clients, brokers, service
providers and treating clinicians).
- Assist
the medical underwriter and claims team with the request and follow up /
chase of requested medical information or non-medical information to
expedite the underwriting and claims processes.
- Accurately
maintain underwriting and claims files.
- Build
effective working relationships with colleagues, brokers, clients, claims
service providers etc.
- Adhere
to internal procedures, underwriting and claims philosophy, operational
authorities, as well as any applicable legislation/industry guidelines.
- Undertake
any other reasonable and appropriate duties within the broad remit of your
role and grade, providing additional support to the Medical Underwriter,
Claims team and Early Intervention Co-Ordinator as and when required.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good self motivation and organisation skills.
- Good ability to cope with deadlines and work under pressure.
- The ability to work well within a team as well as with colleagues from other departments or offices
- Operational proficiency in use of Microsoft Office.
- 5 GCSEs Grade A*-C including English and Maths.
- 3 A Levels
