Description
As a level 2 apprentice at Playfields Nursery, you will complete your Early years Practitioner Apprenticeship, working alongside the caring team and your training provider.
You will be expected to;
- To be fully aware of Playfield Nursery’s operational policies and procedures
- To assist in setting up and clearing all toys and equipment before the start and at the end of the session.
- To assist in the preparation of snacks, supervise the children during snack time to supervise the children where appropriate and to protect them from dangerous or harmful situations as directed by senior staff.
- To provide a high level of care that will enhance the children’s general health and well-being.
- To ensure that all toys and equipment are safe and clean at all times.
- To carry out observations in order to identify a child’s learning and developmental needs.
- To contribute to and attend your supervision and appraisal
- To keep informative, accurate and up to date written reports including developmental reports of key children’s progress.
- To keep up to date with current good practice.
- To share any safeguarding or child protection concerns immediately with the Manager/Senior officer in charge
- To attend and contribute to regular team meetings
- To perform any other duties as directed by the Manager/Deputy Manager.
- To contribute to the planning of activities and delivery of the EYFS curriculum.

Your full role and
responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Playfield Nursery will provide
you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and
your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
You will be working towards the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard, which includes:
- Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
- Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner
- Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
This will be delivered through Playfield Nursery's dedicated training provider, Realise.
