Phase 1 Training – 10 weeks at RAF Halton (Basic Recruit Training Course
Stage 1 is around 4 weeks: Recruits will learn general service knowledge, how to maintain their kit for inspection, how to march (drill), strengthen their fitness.
Stage 2 is also around 4 weeks: Recruits will learn how to fire, clean and maintain a rifle, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear training and battlefield first aid. On week 8 they will conduct field exercises included rifle work, camping map reading, bush craft and high ropes.
Stage 3 is around 2 weeks: Recruits will take their final tests and inspections and will prepare for their graduation ceremony which involves further drill training.
Once complete Basic Training all Recruits move onto their Specialist Training.
Phase 2 Training – People Specialist Training, MOD Worthy Down, Winchester:
- Week 1 – Introductions, laptop and accounts set up, basic Defence Learning Courses
- Week 2 & 3 – HR fundamentals, using the Joint Personnel Administration software, understanding Joint Service Policies and Air Publications, RAF Unit visit
- Week 4 – Theory Exams
- Week 5 – Further HR fundamentals, processing allowances, moving and tracking personnel
- Week 6 – Personnel deployment and overseas preparation, processing further allowances, presentation skills
- Week 7 – Practical and Theory Exams
- Week 8 – Real Working Environment simulator, presentations
Recruits will gain Foundation Certificate in People Practice by undertaking a CIPD Level 3 qualification.
