Opportunity Details
Litchfield Equestrian specialise in the sale of quality young horses and also offer breaking and retraining services designed to suit individual needs. They also teach children and adult riding lessons both in groups and individually.
Litchfield Equestrian are also able to offer Business qualifications for anyone looking to learn the business side of running a busy and successful competition and livery yard.
Daily riding lessons and daily lectures towards the Equine NVQ Levels 2 and 3 (as well as BHS exams may be funded by the employer). The yard buys youngsters and competes with a view to selling them at the end of the year.
Some of the Stable & Yard Management duties will include;
- Preparing feeds and feeding
- Preparing for exercise
- Tacking up and tack cleaning
- Lunging and putting on the walker
- Turning out & bringing in
- Mucking Out
- Bathing
- Assisting at Competition Days
- Plaiting
- Could include riding/competing in the competition if required
This apprenticeship is work based onsite so not lots of time sitting in a classroom. If you did not gain your Maths & English GCSE's in school we can support you to gain these whilst on programme.
Th interview will consist of a trial day at the yard.
You must be a UK resident or have lived in the EU for 3 years to apply for this role.

Skills Required
Previous experience with horses is preferred, but learners without previous horse experience that have an excellent work attitude and are in the right age bracket will still be considered.
Qualifications Required
A GCSE or equivalent pass in English and maths is beneficial but not essential. If you do not have passes, we will support you in achieving your Functional Skills English and maths qualifications alongside your apprenticeship.
Training
All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.

Other Information
No accommodation is available on site, so please ensure you can make your way to and from the yard reliably each day, the location is accessible by bus.
Taking your own horse into livery on site is a possibility and will be discussed with potential candidates.

Jabeena Maslin MBE has coached the GB team and has a wealth of experience for all levels to learn from.There is accommodation on site is free of charge and they include food within the package. The apprenticeship will allow you to learn from Jabeena and her professional team and look after top calibre horses whilst working on a fast paced and exciting yard.

Isaac Hall and his team at Wayside Lodge are looking for a new equine apprentice to join them, Isaac runs a 20 indoor box yard with mainly show jumpers , a few liveries and he also breeds around 5 foals a year there. He is looking for an enthusiastic young person with good basic equine experience who is keen to develop their equine knowledge .Hours 35-40 per week dependent on age, over 5 days, 8-5pm to include 1 weekend day per week.
