Vehicle damage paint technician (ST0448)

Description
Refurbishing vehicles, from panel work to
alloy refurbishment, to smart repairs. This will involve re spraying, or
repairing doors/panels etc.
- An apprentice will apply masking material to protect areas not to
be coated and removes any external fixtures
- consults vehicle colour code, chooses appropriate paint or mixes
paint to achieve desired consistency and colour
- uses hand or electrostatic spray gun to coat surfaces, adjusting
nozzle and pressure valves of the gun as required
- removes masking materials and refits external fittings after
completion of spraying
- cleans and maintains spray equipment, protective clothing, and
spraying booth

STANDARD & LEVEL
The successful candidate will work towards completing the Level 3 Vehicle Damage Paint Technician Standard from the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education. Delivered by Blackpool and The Fylde College offering expert tuition and exceptional facilities.

Off-the-job training
Developing your skills at work is called on-the-job training, 20% of your apprenticeship (equal to one full day a week) will be ‘off-the-job’. This might include attending College, tackling projects, online learning, coaching, shadowing, or training for your job.
Stacks of support
Assessment mostly takes place in the workplace. When you start, you will be allocated a skills coach, who will visit you at least once a month to guide and support you and help you to plan for your future. We will also provide you with specialist support for your English and maths and for any additional needs that you make us aware of.

ability to take control of what needs doing to the car without leaving evidence
of having work done to it.
