With Remembrance Day coming up, we thought we'd look into apprenticeships in the armed forces. Did you know that 95% of new soldiers in the army take part in apprenticeships?

Apprenticeships in the Army

Each apprenticeship fits in with military training and is closely related to a soldier's Army role, so as well as becoming a better soldier, they are working towards a qualification that will be valued by civilian employers. Apprenticeships in the Army are delivered on full pay.

In the Army, you have the option of over 40 apprenticeships available from level 2 (equivalent to GCSE's) to Level 4 (equivalent to a foundation year at university). You could do an apprenticeship in many areas including engineering, construction, driving or even animal care - and what's better is new programmes are being developed all of the time.

Apprenticeships in the Navy

A career in the Naval Service doesn't mean you'll just look good on paper. It's so much more than hands-on training and internationally recognised qualifications. A future in the Naval Service is as specialist as it is unique, whether you choose to work on a ship, submarine, in a shore base or an air station.

This is where personal development meets professional. You'll go to places you've never been, experience things you wouldn't anywhere else, and develop skills you don't even know you have yet.

There are loads of apprenticeships available in the navy, from a personnel logistician administrator, to royal marine's commando, medical assistant and even an engineering technician!

Apprenticeships in the RAF

An apprenticeship in the RAF offers you the chance to gain a UK-recognised trade qualification as part of a challenging and unique career. Not only will you gain a civilian recognised professional qualification, but upon completion you'll also have a guaranteed job in your chosen field.

The RAF offer all kinds of apprenticeships in a broad and diverse range of careers including aviation operations, engineering, hospitality & catering and IT. You'll receive the very best training and as well as getting paid to learn, you'll get the chance to travel the world, play sport and perform an important role in the RAF.

If you have the drive and ambition, the RAF can offer you a unique and rewarding career. To gain an apprenticeship in the RAF you still need to meet all of the entry requirements for whichever role it is for and get through all stages of the application process. You will gain the apprenticeship as part of your phase two (trade) training.

You have a choice of more than 20 roles as an apprentice in the RAF. And what's better? You'll be on a minimum salary of £14,931 per annum!

Diversity in the Armed Forces

Interestingly diversity in the armed forces has been coming up in the news recently. This is because Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon has committed to boosting diversity in the armed forces.
