Meet the people helping to build a better Capital

Liam Ballantine

“I was an assistant sponsor on a new type of crossing scheme called Green Man Authority (GMA); this crossing prioritised pedestrians crossing the road and would detect cars using sensors placed down the road to begin the changing of phase so the pedestrians would stop crossing. The project began trials and was very successful in the results. It won a London Transport Award for the most innovative transport.”

Zofia Gawor

“My key achievement on my scheme so far has been getting involved in the diversity and inclusion initiatives within TfL. As a female engineer it’s important to me to be involved in creating a working environment where everyone feels included and valued. I have been a mentor to members of the senior leadership team and I have participated in focus groups that have helped to shape new government policy documents.”

Hannah Resnick

“Whilst on the scheme, I chaired a Committee for current Graduates and Apprentices, giving me the chance to be the voice of my community too, whilst building my network along the way. I got the fantastic opportunity to undertake placements across the business, from the Northern Line Extension to the Neasden Depot Modernisation to my current business area of Technology and Data. I have recently rolled off my apprenticeship scheme and taken up my permanent role with TfL.

I now Chair the Alumni of Graduates and Apprentices, working across all levels of the business to promote and support career development, whilst working as an Associate Project Manager, upgrading the radio base units that are used by TfL staff.”
