What are your interests outside of work?
In my time outside of work, I love to travel and visit new places! In particular, I enjoy visiting places of historical interest/ places of natural beauty. I also like to participate in sports such as Equestrian activities and keeping active at the gym. I enjoy the challenges of something new and am always looking to take up something new!
Can you describe your job and what you do on a day-to-day basis?
Working in Finance means that my daily work varies, and is dependent on current projects, deadlines and other events going on within the company! During my time so far, I have been involved in generating key financial and performance-based reports, generating statistics, statement and bank reconciliations, organising large team events and so much more! There are always opportunities for me to get stuck in on projects and expand my work experience further.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
The highlight of my career so far is most likely the opportunity I had to be involved in the stock image shoot day. It was something that was completely different to my day-to-day role and was a new experience! It was challenging but incredibly fun and an experience I was able to share with other graduates within the company.
What has been the biggest challenge of your career so far?
The biggest challenge I have faced so far is probably learning new systems and processes through my rotations in Finance. I am regularly faced with new systems, processes, formulas and more which can be quite daunting! However, I have great support systems and colleagues who are always there to help me in facing these challenges and learning new skills.
What would be your words of advice to someone thinking about doing an apprenticeship?
Many people are reluctant to start an apprenticeship from university, or altogether! It is more than just an apprenticeship. You receive ongoing, supported learning while gaining in-industry experience alongside gaining a professional qualification. Never be scared to ask questions and reach out to people!
