Hello, I Am Freddie

An apprenticeship takes a lot of courage – you’re going straight into the workplace as soon as you leave college or school. It’s a big jump, but for me, it was definitely worth it!

Tell us more about your experience

On a day-to-day basis my job involves me contributing to a segmentation project that is among the top 1% in the world of its type. I work in the B2B digital marketing team which means we market to other businesses. I’m split between the content team which looks at really cool customer story use cases, influencer work and social media. I also work in the effectiveness team, contributing to the segmentation project and coming up with new initiatives to help optimise our work.

Since joining BT, the best moment I’ve experienced is when the marketing director gave a shout-out to me and my co-worker for our contributions and said that we ‘made a huge difference to the company’! It made me really proud of myself.

“With an apprenticeship, I could get vital market experience while being paid, is the best decision I’ve made about my career.”

I decided that I wanted to do an apprenticeship because the idea of university never really appealed to me. I found that the fact I could get vital market experience while being paid, is the best decision I’ve made about my career. If I could give advice to anyone considering the apprenticeship path, I would say do it!

An apprenticeship takes a lot of courage – you’re going straight into the workplace as soon as you leave college or school. It’s a big jump, but for me, it was definitely worth it! After doing a BTEC at college, I never thought that I would even be able to go to university, let alone to get paid as I was doing a degree too. I always felt a step behind everyone else who did A-Levels, but once I started my apprenticeship none of that mattered. I now feel like a full-time member of the team!

My apprenticeship has given me a lot of great skills that will be useful throughout the rest of my career. I now have great time management, interpersonal skills, and stakeholder management skills. Once I’ve finished my apprenticeship, I see myself working full-time in the Digital Marketing team, helping to optimise and shape the future of BT Business’s marketing plans.
