Hello, I Am TJ

An apprenticeship is a great opportunity to learn in the workplace and get first-hand experience that can’t be gained only in the classroom.

Tell us more about your experience

My roles and responsibilities on a daily basis are quite varied due to the nature of the team. Some of my tasks include configuring and installing network hardware, testing live circuits, and planning and circuit writing. I also conduct data analysis and continuous improvement projects. I provide technical assistance and troubleshoot live faults and create system guides and video tutorials. The most exciting project I’ve worked on so far was with web application design and development.

As part of my apprenticeship journey, I had to complete a Level 4 Network Engineering apprenticeship before progressing onto Level 6. I was so proud when I passed it. I originally decided to do an apprenticeship to learn skills while on the job and gain some great qualifications.

“I thought an apprenticeship would help me shape my career while getting paid at the same time!”

An apprenticeship is a great opportunity to learn in the workplace and get first-hand experience that can’t be gained only in the classroom. Once you have completed one, not only will you have a qualification, but also years of experience within a job sector and role – this will help you get your foot on the career ladder.

If I could give any advice for someone considering an apprenticeship it would be to keep going and don’t doubt yourself! I applied for a technical position, without any past experience at all. It was my passion, drive, and honesty that Vodafone was more interested in – not just my practical skills. My managers and tutors within Vodafone have been brilliant and supported me whenever I needed it over the years which has helped me advance so much already.

At the end of my apprenticeship, I hope to become a full member of my team. I have developed so many skills in my apprenticeship that have set me up for a great future. From a vast amount of technical knowledge, valuable workplace skills, solutions architecture, and excellent business and continuous improvements, there are still loads more that I can’t even begin to list.
