Hello, I Am Oliver

An apprenticeship puts you ahead of the crowd when it comes to real, on-the-job experience!

Tell us more about your experience

What is your job title?

Analytics Architect

What has your journey looked like post-apprenticeship?

My journey Post apprenticeship was very smooth, as I was hired by the team that I had been working with in my apprenticeship. I still had to go through the standard application and interview process, as if it was a brand new job. Overall the experience was beneficial, both for experience in interviews and for giving me the opportunity to market myself in negotiations.

Have you done any additional qualifications since your apprenticeship ended?

I have not done any additional qualifications since the end of my apprenticeship, but I do have plans for completing Cloud Architecture competencies and gaining industry accepted certificates for relevant cloud providers.

What advice would you give to someone doing an apprenticeship in the same industry as you?

My advice to people doing apprenticeships in the Telecommunications industry would be;

Try and be as flexible as possible, it’s a fast-moving industry that you will need to adapt in, to stay competitive.

As with any large enterprise business you won’t be able to know everything, so choose 2 or 3 relevant core topics to make your ‘specialty’ and strive to be the ‘go-to’ person for these topics.

If at first you feel a bit lost, or that you can’t understand allot of the conversations happening around you… Don’t worry! This is normal, and overtime you will develop the skills and knowledge that will enable you to drive value.

Remember an apprenticeship is a journey, and the more you embrace the learning (both on the job and in the classroom) the more weapons you will have in your arsenal to hit the ground running when you move into a fulltime role.
