I enjoy giving up my time to volunteer for my community – I’m a leader at my local girl guiding association! I also love to explore new places and learn about different cultures.

From a young age I’ve always had a passion for dancing in all different styles like Latin, Ballroom and Street. For 11 years I’ve competed in national competitions, however, as work commitments have taken over, I’ve had to stop. I hope to give it a go again soon!

Hello, I Am Amelia

My role as an apprentice is to support global communications for my company, Sage, both externally and internally. On a day-to-day basis, I create a lot of social media content for Twitter particularly, as well as publishing content on our internal intranet. The most exciting project I’ve been involved in would be the behind-the-scenes filming with our leadership team for a project. It was really exciting to see what happens from a different perspective, not just as part of the audience.

My proudest moment so far with Sage so far is when the company Twitter page (@SagePartners) gained a blue verification tick – it took a lot of hard work, research, and analysis. The application was approved and it was great to see all that work pay off in the end!

“The opportunities you can gain from an apprenticeship are endless!”

I originally decided to pursue an apprenticeship as I knew university wasn’t for me, but I still wanted to carry on learning. An apprenticeship was therefore the perfect opportunity for me, as I could work, earn and learn all in one! If I could give advice to anyone else, it would be just to go for it! Don’t feel like you have to go down the traditional route of university; the opportunities and exposure you can gain from an apprenticeship in a great company are endless!

For me, applying for the apprenticeship wasn’t too stressful. Sage had an excellent team who created a really fun and engaging interview process. They’re amazing when it comes to the apprenticeship overall too. What I love most is that my manager is so engaged with what I’m doing and makes sure whatever topic I’m studying that week is incorporated into my weekly work so I can really get that on-the-job experience.

My training provider is also great! They often run live online webinars (which were in person before Covid) with other students from the same course. It’s a fantastic way to share our thoughts and learn together. The tutors are also so helpful and always give detailed feedback on our work – they’re available all the time, whenever you need them. I can just send over an email and my tutor will get back to me ASAP! When I’m finished with my apprenticeship, I would love to go on to do a higher one and grow my skills even more.
