Apprenticeships With Jisc

Jisc are a membership organisation, providing digital solutions for UK education and research. We want a world where people learn, discover and thrive through access to technology, no matter who they are or where they live. We’re a social enterprise, so every penny we create is reinvested in our core purpose.

We’ve worked hard to make our Apprenticeship programmes the best experience they can be for everyone involved and are really proud to have been recently awarded 24th place in the top 100 Apprenticeship providers in the UK.

Jisc is a community and a very social place to work. Across our offices, we have everything from rounders teams and picnics in the park to 'Pizza Thursdays'.

We have friendly, open plan, modern offices in Bristol, Harwell (Oxford), London and Manchester. Dependent on your role, we don’t necessarily require you to work 9-to-5, five days a week, from a specific office or face-to-face.

You can look forward to a rewarding job with opportunities to develop and make a real difference to the education and research sectors.

We’re not recruiting for any apprentices at the moment, but you can register your interest here to receive an alert when we are next.

I thoroughly enjoy the programme. I enjoy software development so when an apprenticeship became available, I was quick to apply. I am able to work on an area every day which I enjoy, all at the same time of learning new skills which I can use later on in life for which ever role I decide to take on.

Smarter, flexible working

Our technology allows us to work with flexibility whilst maintaining connection with each other. We use tools such as Slack, Skype, Teams, Yammer and our own videoconferencing platform, Vscene – all part of developing smarter ways of working that are output-focused, not location-focused.

Your voice matters

It is important to us that our people have a say in the organisation. We run a number of initiatives to support this, such as our employee voice forum and meet and greets with our leadership team. We also hold an annual staff conference, and our ideas programme is a chance to contribute towards innovation, productivity and business improvement.

Our recognition scheme – including a quarterly awards event – is our way of giving clear and open thanks to our colleagues for doing a great job.

Our values

Our values and behaviours are our guiding principles. They define how we work and help us to do what we do so well.

They are:

• Pride – we have pride in what we do but aren’t arrogant or complacent.

• Pace – we deliver at the right pace to meet the needs of our members and each other.

• Passion – our passion drives everything we do.

• Teamwork – we are one team and teamwork makes us better.

• Trust – you can trust us to deliver on our promises,

We are working hard to be an even greater place to work and want to be seen as an inclusive, flexible organisation; recognising that diversity of experience, approach and personality enables us to provide better services to our members.

We’re not recruiting for any apprentices at the moment, but you can register your interest here to receive an alert when we are next.

"My experience with the programme has exceeded all expectations I had regarding starting a full time job and the company culture at Jisc. Since starting everyone has been very welcoming and more than happy to help when I have questions."
