Skern Lodge is looking for Chef/Catering Assistant apprentice to join their friendly, professional team. This is an exciting opportunity to join North Devon’s leading outdoor activity centre, providing catering for both residential staff and customers.
We are an outdoor activity and development centre based in North Devon. Established in 1976, Skern Lodge provides education, learning and fun through adventure. We are an independent, privately owned organisation committed to the highest standards in all aspects of the business. Situated on the edge of the quiet coastal village of Appledore, Skern is set within 22 acres of our own grounds with the tidal waters of the estuary on the doorstep, we are in the perfect location.

The key responsibilities of this position is to provide catering for both residential staff and customers, which can be up to 250 meals per day. Skern Lodge aim is to provide well-balanced healthy meals using fresh local produce where possible, and to ensure an efficient and cost effective operation paying attention to environmental issues.
The ideal candidate should be able to work in a team, use their own initiative and be proactive in their approach to work.
Assisting in the preparation, cooking, delivery and clearing of food at Skern Lodge catering operations, working functions and bar work
Maintain a clean working environment and ensure all systems are followed.
MAIN DUTIES: KITCHEN
Food hygiene certificate is an advantage but training can be given
To become a full time member of the team and train towards further qualifications
Apprenticeship standard for a commis chef
Hours from 0700 to 1900 to include weekends and bank holidays, split shifts - maximum 40 hours per week.
