It’s important to remember that no option is better than any other: life has a funny way of making sure it goes in the right direction. Some people may be better suited to the traditional route of going to university, others want to go exploring on a gap year, some would much rather get straight into the work place and make their mark that way.

Work Experience

It can be difficult to break the ‘no job – no experience’ cycle. That’s why we want to help you find work experience opportunities across the UK. Work experience gives you the opportunity to get a professional placement with an employer to learn soft skills to help you make that break to your first job.

Traineeships

A traineeship will give you the opportunity to give you work preparation training, experience and qualifications. If you don’t have level 2 qualifications (the equivalent to GCSEs), you could consider doing a traineeship. You’ll leave with new skills, CV and interview training and get entry level qualifications to get you onto an apprenticeship or make you more eligible for full time roles.

If you want to get great qualifications alongside a full-time job where you’ll earn a salary, an apprenticeship could be perfect for you. They range from the equivalent to GCSEs all the way to master’s level, so there really is an opportunity for everybody, in anything from business and marketing to engineering and manufacturing.
