Customer Service Apprentice

South Kirkby Eyecare is looking for an enthusiastic apprentice to join their optical team. We are looking for candidates that will learn the Customer Service side of a small business but who are also willing to learn the optical side. Full training for optical jobs will be provided by fully qualified staff.

Detailed Job Description

Your roles and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Reception skills – including answering and making phone calls and greeting customers at the front desk.
  • Dealing with post, incoming and outgoing.
  • Printing recalls and photocopying record cards.
  • Faxing referrals.
  • Dealing with general inquiries.
  • Use and maintain stock, stationary and supplies.
  • Usage of Microsoft mainly Word and Excel.
  • Filing.
  • Dealing with invoices and statements.
  • Money handling and cashing up.
  • Store and receive data.
  • Send, receive and manage emails.
  • Use data management software (Optisoft).
  • Understand the basics of an optical prescription.
  • Help with the appearance of frame displays.
  • Doing minor adjustments for fitting glasses.
    • Changing screws and nose pads.
    • Cleaning customer’s glasses.
  • Using the briot glazing machine.
  • Helping customers choose appropriate glasses.
  • Using the field’s machine.
  • Learn how to use a manual focimeter.

No qualifications required for this role, although 3 - 9 grade GCSE's or equivalent qualifications would be a distinct advantage.

Future prospects

There is an excellent opportunity for the apprentice to progress in to a permanent position in the company. Following the intermediate apprenticeship the apprentice will have the opportunity to progress on to an advanced apprenticeship with Interserve.

Additional Information

Training provided

The successful apprentice will be enrolled onto an intermediate apprenticeship and level 2 Customer Service qualification. All training is 100% work based, so this is a great way to learn if you no longer want to sit in a classroom.

You have a dedicated Interserve Assessor who will give training, support and guidance throughout your 12 month apprenticeship. As well as working towards a Level 2 Customer Service qualification you will also receive training towards a technical certificate and functional skills, Maths, English and ICT (if relevant).
