Detailed Job Description

As an Apprentice Nursery Practitioner, your daily duties will include:

  • Meeting and greeting both children and parents as they turn up for the day
  • Signing visitors in
  • Working in all 3 rooms, you will be working with children aged from 0-5yrs of age
  • Supporting at snack and meal times
  • Outdoor play
  • Participating in indoor activities including reading stories, singing nursery rhymes, painting, number games and other stimulating learner activities
  • Job shadowing other staff on daily basis until you are confident in all aspects of your role
  • Changing nappies
  • Support to get the babies to sleep
  • Customer service
  • Following strict safeguarding procedures to ensure that the children are safe at all times
  • Following health and safety procedures at all times to ensure the childcare are safe at all times
  • Helping with the school runs
  • Updating parents/guardians verbally when they come to pick up their child

Qualifications required

  • Ideally applicants will hold GCSE (or equivalent) grades A*-D/9-4 in English and maths.

  • Level 2 in Children and Young People's Workforce
  • Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Little Stars Nursery will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
  • If successful, you will complete an Children and Young People's apprenticeship programme delivered through Little Stars Nursery's dedicated training provider, Interserve Learning & Employment.
