Tiny Gems is a small homely nursery located in the Humberstone / Uppingham Road area of Leicester.

Established since 1994, it caters for children aged from 6 months to 8 years and provides full day and part-time care as well as holiday and after-school care. It also provides free funded places for 15 hours per week for all 3/4 year olds and eligible 2 year

olds.

Detailed Job Description

  • Adhering to the policies and procedures of Tiny gems nursery
  • Ensuring confidentiality is maintained within the Nursery
  • Working as part of a team
  • The care and supervision of the children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs
  • Working with the Nursery Nurse with regards to the planning, preparation of activities, to meet children’s individual needs, liaising with parents and ensuring effective communication within the Nursery
  • Offering all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background; in particular, challenging situations where racism or discrimination is displayed
  • Observing children and understanding the processes of their development
  • Positive management of children’s behaviour
  • Preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the Nursery rooms and equipment
  • Laundry duties
  • Attendance of staff meetings as arranged by the Nursery Manager
  • Attending associated training
  • Participating in parent’s evenings and open days
  • Any other duties appropriate to the position as directed by the Nursery Manager and Directors

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

  • Candidates MUST already be Level 2 Childcare qualified.
  • Ideally applicants will hold GCSE (or equivalent) grades A*-D/9-4 in English and maths.

Training provided

Level 3 Early Years Educator programme.

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Tiny Gems Nursery will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.

If successful, you will complete an Early Years Educator apprenticeship programme delivered through Little Stars Nursery's dedicated training provider, Interserve Learning & Employment.
