Description

Experienced Australian event rider with over 20 years experience producing horses up to advanced level eventing and training riders of all levels is looking for an apprentice to join the existing team on a professional, but fun, livery and competition yard near Salisbury. This is an exciting opportunity for a young person wishing to pursue a career within the horse industry.

The role involves;

  • Day to day care of the horses and competition preparation
  • Feeding
  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Paddock maintenance
  • Tacking up
  • Grooming
  • Bathing
  • Plaiting
  • Preparing equipment and lorry for events Regular opportunities to groom at events – dressage, show jumping and eventing
  • This role does include some sole charge responsibility once competent
  • Lessons
  • Plenty of riding

Please note this position is 5 days including weekends and bank holidays (must be flexible dependent on competition requirements)

Experience with horses is essential. Please note that applicants with no experience will not be considered for this position.
Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English
Full training provided through the Equine Apprenticeship supported by Haddon Training

  • Team player with a good sense of humour
  • Attention to detail and a genuine love of horses
  • Totally committed to caring for horses to the highest standard
  • Hard working as working with horses is demanding and physical (but a lot of fun and hugely rewarding)
Possibility of Level 3 Horse Care Apprenticeship on completion of Level 2
Possibility to take own horse
