Description

The riding lessons are all taught by qualified instructors on well-mannered horses and ponies in a safe and supportive environment. The centre always has between 50 and 60 horses and ponies available, which enables great flexibility, and allows large groups to be catered for. A large complement of staff qualified to BHSAI and BHSI grades cater for all levels of tuition.

Our sensible, regularly schooled horses and ponies mean that whether you are beginning or improving, you are able to learn to ride and care for horses with qualified instructors in a friendly and safe environment. We are a British Horse Society (BHS) Training Centre with education and practical training in horsemanship a key part of our activities.

We also have a large and well equipped livery yard that houses horses and ponies for full, working and schooling livery. Opportunities to compete on NH Horses. Examinations and competitions.

General duties to include;

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing
  • Rug changing
  • Paddock maintenance
  • Schooling
  • Riding
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

Some previous experience handling horses is required. If we feel you do not have the relevant experience for this position, we will not be able to put you forward.
Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English

Full training through the Equine Apprenticeship supported by Haddon Training.

BHS Stages 1,2 +3 PTT + Equine Tourism Qualification level 2

Hard working, keen, reliable, punctual, good with horses, friendly.
Full time position on completion of diploma.
Accommodation and own space for horse available.
