Description

General yard duties such as:

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/trimming/plaiting/bathing
  • Rug changing
  • Paddock and yard maintenance
  • Schooling
  • Riding
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses from the ground
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist
  • Handling competition horses
  • Riding out on the gallops
  • Hunting
  • Opportunity to assist with breaking and backing
  • Competing (on own horse)

This is an apprenticeship position for those aged 16-23.

Some previous experience with horses is essential. If you do not have the relevant experience we will not be able to put you forward for this position.
Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English

Full training through the Equine Apprenticeship supported by Haddon Training.

Hard working, keen, happy to work outdoors in all weather, calm and confident handling competition fit horses, friendly, enthusiastic.
Full time position on completion of diploma.
Possibility of accommodation if needed, and space for your own horse.
